About Suzuki

Dr. Shinichi Suzuki developed his “mother tongue” method of music education when he realized that all children learn to speak by hearing their caregivers speak. Based on the philosophy that all children have ability and that talent is developed through one’s environment, children and parents study together in the studio and work at home as a piano-learning team. Learning by ear initially, students become technically competent before note-reading is introduced. Listening to recordings of assigned pieces is required and group classes are recommended, all to support an excellent instrumental education.

• Children can study as young as 3
• Parents learn right along with their child(ren) - quality time together - parent as good example
• Lessons are minimum 30 minutes - young children are at piano for half the time - parent other half initially
• Ear training begins at first lesson - students transpose music naturally
• Technical proficiency begins at first lessson - bad habits are never developed
• Object is to have fun expressing on piano and build self esteem while developing musicality from the first sound

Suzuki piano is offered in two formats: classes (see below) and private lessons. Suzuki violin is offered in private lessons only. Click here for private lesson information.

Suzuki Twinkle & Pretwinkle Classes
Ages 2½ to 4½
Allow your child to develop by learning the language of music naturally through the Suzuki Method! These small group classes (3-6 children) are an engaging and fun introduction to music. Your child will be introduced to music in a variety of ways including interactive play, musical activities and games; improvisation, ear training and singing; introduction to the keyboard; and expressive and synchronized movement. These classes can lead to individual Suzuki Piano or Violin lessons for those who are interested and ready, or they can be enjoyed for their own sake.
